Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide appointments virtually, through online video?

Yes we do. Please check out our Virtual Physiotherapy Page for more info. You can book your Virtual Physiotherapy appointment by requesting an appointment

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the art and science of rehabilitation using modern technology, joint mobilization, and exercise techniques.

Our physiotherapists work one-on-one with our patients to overcome pain, sports injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries – anything that’s preventing them from getting back into “the game of life”.

The physiotherapist will do a neuro-musculoskeletal assessment and based on the findings of that assessment will design a rehabilitation program to help the patient achieve their goals of therapy.  The physiotherapist will communicate the findings and the rehabilitation plan to the patient’s physician and employer/insurer (when necessary).  The physiotherapist will determine all treatment and assign parts of that treatment to the support personnel when appropriate.  The physiotherapist will reassess the patient’s progress regularly and make alterations to the treatment based on information from the reassessments, the support personnel’s input and the patient’s personal goals.

Will physiotherapy be able to treat my problem?

There are no magic pills out there. We help thousands of people,  just like you, get better every year. Our goals are your goals and we will work to achieve them through hard work together.

Does insurance cover my appointment?

It may. Many extended benefit plans cover physiotherapy. We deal with all major and most minor insurance companies to get your physiotherapy care covered. It’s always best to check your plan first. We can also help you with that in the clinic if needed.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No! Call us for an appointment today.

If you are applying for covered physiotherapy treatments through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) you will require a referral from a doctor in addition to meeting other eligibility requirements, including “Be 65 years or older, 19 years or younger, or any age if you were admitted to a hospital for an overnight stay within the last 12 months as the reason for your referral”. Please visit the OHIP website for a full list of requirements.

You may want to check with your insurance company as some extended benefit providers require a physician’s referral for coverage.

How long does a treatment session take and how many appointments do I need?

A new assessment takes between 40-60 minutes. In this time we get a strong sense of your needs, put together a plan to achieve the goals we set and get started on treatment.

On-going treatment combines in-depth 20 minute sessions with the physiotherapist and an additional 40 minutes of in-clinic exercise stretching and modality time.

How should I dress for my appointment?

You should wear clothing that allows for easy movement of any affected areas. A t-shirt and shorts or pants that allow for easy movement are usually sufficient.

Do I need to have imaging done before my appointment?

No. Imaging may become necessary but it should never stop you from starting treatment. The quicker we can begin the quicker we will get you moving and pain free again.

How quickly can I be seen for my first appointment?

We can almost always see new patients the same week. You can book your appointment HERE!
